BECOME A VITAL PART.

This is a cooperative production, all participants will be paid a share of the profits. Stage manager will be paid a double share. This is a play produced in the style of the Grand Guignol.

It will audition mid-August, rehearse late August through September and play all through the month of October.

Shows are Thursday through Sunday with 2-4 performances a night. Sundays are matinees.

VitalSaenz is an anti-racist organization dedicated to building teams that comprise at least 50% people of color/alternative populations (LGBTQIA+, disabled)

Roles:

The Sister (Lead): Could be played by an actor who is Female or Gender-Nonconforming or Non-Binary or Trans Female, 30-75
A nun in charge of the asylum at Saint-Leger in Normandy; stern and commanding
Ethnicity: All Ethnicities.

Madame Robin (Supporting): Female, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Female, 40-75
A civilian and former inmate at the asylum; has worked there for many years; equal parts obsequious and defiant
Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

The Normandy Woman (Supporting): Female, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Female, 40-75
An inmate at the asylum, probably a legit schizophrenic/obsessive-compulsive
Ethnicity: All Ethnicities

Hunchback (Supporting): Female, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Female, 40-75
Inmate at the asylum, probably legit schizophrenic/obsessive-compulsive

Louise (Lead): Female, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Female, 18-25
Inmate at the asylum on the eve of being released as "cured." Probably suffered from acute anxiety but also probably should never have been institutionalized; tremulous and vulnerable

The Doctor (Lead): Male, Trans Male, 45-75
The head of the asylum; appears kind and gentle but is definitely authoritative and sexist

The Intern, Lebrun (Supporting): Male, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Male, 18-30
Young and green, a confirmed yes-man

One-Eye (Supporting): Female, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Female, 35-75
Criminally insane but misdiagnosed as catatonic schizophrenic when she is actually psychopathic; terrifying

Second Sister, Sister Agnes (Supporting): Female, Gender-Nonconforming, Non-Binary, Trans Female, 30-75
A nun at the asylum; could be double cast with Madame Robin

Crew:

Needed is a team of three backstage crew: stage manager, house manager and general backstage person.
